I bought this for my 77-year old father-in-law to replace his worn out, tiny-screened old Nokia - he was reluctant to change, but admitted that he was finding it hard to see anything on his Nokia due to the heavily scratched display! Anyway, I'd bought a similar Doro for my 85-year old mum last year, and she loves it, so I told him he was having it! Firstly, its simple to operate, very similar to his Nokia, so the transition from old to new was that much easier for him. The screen is huge in comparison, and its nice and bright too, a revelation compared to the old one. Its nice and loud in his ear, and the ringer volume is VERY LOUD when turned up! I set it to 'answer on open', so opening the clamshell accepts a call, closing it cuts it off - this saves him fiddling with buttons, not that much of a problem really as the buttons are a good size anyway, but less chance of hitting the wrong one this way. Even the charger is geared up for older users - he's been used to the Nokia's round pin connector, obviously the microUSB connector on this one is different...and only goes in one way! Doro supply the cable with a circular 'grip' near to the phone end of the cable, meaning its much easier to push in and pull out of the phone's charging port, and the grip is marked on one side to show which way round it needs to be before insertion - simple but an effective aid to older users. Battery life is excellent too. All in all, a highly recommended phone, particularly for the elderly.Read full review

I didn't want a smart phone - just one to make and receive calls/texts. This is perfect - and it also has a camera. It has a clear-to-read screen, well-spaced buttons and it is simple to operate. I have my phone switched off most of the time and make only occasional calls so battery life is difficult to estimate, but absolutely no problems so far. The clam-shell style of casing gives added protection to the screen and means no risk of accidental operation when it's in your handbag or pocket. It was well written-up in Which consumer magazine, and Doro is a reliable brand. I chose this phone as the buttons on my previous were simply too fiddly and close together. This one is still very compact and met all my requirements.
